Elif Todd, Counsellor
A warm, compassionate, and dedicated counsellor, Elif works with clients navigating
life's challenges such as anxiety, panic attacks, depression, grief, a sense of ‘stuckness’, exploration of identity and belonging, relational dynamics, attachment and trauma related issues, and cultural complexities.
Elif provides a safe and supportive space for clients to explore patterns that impact their responses to life’s challenges. Your work with her will foster insights and self-awareness that will enable long-lasting growth and integration – leading you towards improved relationships and a more fulfilling life.
Elif practises from an integrative, pluralistic perspective, drawing from various
counselling and psychotherapy theories and approaches depending on client needs.
She works with individuals, couples, and families. She also facilitates anxiety and trauma psychoeducation and support groups and personal growth groups.
My Story
My career in training and facilitation evolved when I started working with individuals and groups on personal growth. This led me to pursue further education in counselling and psychotherapy. I have a master’s degree in counselling studies from Massey University in Aotearoa New Zealand. My academic qualifications include training in couples and family therapy and cultural counselling. I have further trained in several approaches including trauma-informed treatments.
My strong academic foundation and wealth of life experience inform my therapeutic approach (I have lived in 8 countries, raising a family in 5). I work with warmth, empathy, authenticity, and a genuine belief in the potential for growth. As well as my private practice, I work as a contract counsellor (online) for Skylight Trust, a Wellington based not-for-profit organisation specialising in grief, trauma, and family relationships. I hold memberships of both NZAC (New Zealand Association of Counsellors) and TürkPDRDer (Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association). I am fully bilingual and
provide therapy in English and Turkish.
I believe in the capacity of each person to discover who they are, who they want to be,
and how to close the gap. I provide an emotionally safe, collaborative, and genuine
environment where this can happen.
